Cameron Diaz stepped out Thursday night for the first time since her father’s death, making an upbeat appearance for the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, What Happens in Vegas.

Clad in a form-fitting, coral-colored short dress and black heels, a radiant and smiling Diaz waved to the crowd as she walked the red carpet with co-star Ashton Kutcher at her side. She never lost her famous smile.

Wearing a Zac Posen dress and Sergio Rossi shoes, Cameron Diaz returned to the red carpet smiling at the L.A. premiere of her new comedy, What Happens In Vegas, on Thursday.

It was her first public appearance since her father’s untimely death last month.

She and co-star Ashton Kutcher played to the crowd: Half the fans in the bleachers were wearing “Team Ashton” shirts, the other half were wearing “Team Cameron” shirts.

Cameron opened up to ET saying, “I’am doing very well.” Cameron hit the red carpet in Hollywood to premiere her new romantic comedy ‘What Happens in Vegas,’ in theaters May 9, and ET ‘s KEVIN FRAZIER was there.

Cameron did attend the Los Angeles premiere of “What Happens in Vegas” yesterday, and she looked absolutely amazing in a short red dress! In my opinion, this is one of her best looks in recent years – stunning. Judging from the photos, Cameron, Ashton Kutcher, Lake Bell and Rob Corddry all had a blast at the premiere, and seem to be really good friends. Here’s an alert about a possible public event Cameron might attend. It’s still very unsure if she’ll appear on the red carpet any time soon due to what happened in her life recently. However, since the following tidbit is from an article posted by Fashion Week Daily yesterday, it might just be true.

A slew of additional A-list attendees have been confirmed for Monday’s annual Costume Institute gala. Diane von Furstenberg has designed custom dresses for Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, who will attend as her guests; Hilary Duff will sit with Allure editor Linda Wells; Sofia Coppola, Karen Elson, Rachel Feinstein, and Helena Christensen are attending with Marc Jacobs; Dolce & Gabbana (Domenico Dolce has already arrived in New York) are dressing Scarlett Johansson and Iman and David Bowie; Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady are guests of Donatella Versace; Zoe Kravitz is sitting at the Teen Vogue table; and Lake Bell and Cameron Diaz have been invited by Vogue.

As expected, Cameron’s cancelled all her upcoming TV appearances due to the sudden loss of her father last week. This means no Jay Leno, no David Letterman and no Today Show. It’s also highly doubtful that she’ll attend the Los Angeles premiere of “What Happens in Vegas” tonight. However if she does attend, I will post the pictures the first thing in the morning.
