Cameron Seen on Set of ‘Back In Action’

Cameron Diaz has been pictured for the first time on the London set of her comeback film, Back In Action, four years after confirming her retirement and eight years after starring in her last movie.

The actress, 50, looked incredible in an unmissable red shawl as she got to work with her long-time friend and co-star Jamie Foxx, 55, and Glenn Close, 75, on Thursday night.

Following years of speculation, she officially announced she was quitting acting in 2018 so she could dedicate more time to herself and her husband, rocker Benji Madden, 43. A year later, she welcomed daughter Raddix, three, in December 2019 and said she ‘couldn’t imagine’ leaving her child to embark on 14-hour shoots.

Little is known about Netflix’s upcoming action-comedy, however Glenn was seen shooting scenes with the pair on the Thames, while Jamie wrapped up in a bright red blanket.

During filming, two speedboats were seen speeding up the river, and there was an ambulance in the cordoned-off set, while Cameron and Jamie put their arms around two child actors, a boy and a girl.

Directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon and written by Neighbors screenwriter Brendan O’Brien, the picture was announced back in June.

It was recently reported that Cameron would also star in a sequel to her smash hit 2006 film The Holiday, however co-star Kate Winslet swiftly shut down the claims.

Kate, who played journalist Iris in the rom-com, told People: ‘I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it.

‘I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.’

The end of Cameron’s retirement was announced through a message that was shared to Jamie’s Twitter account in June.

He notably brought in American footballer Tom Brady in an effort to coax the retired actress back from her long-term break.

During the call, she made a point of expressing how troubled she was about making a announcement.

She stated: ‘I’m so anxious right now, I’m pacing the room…I don’t know how to do this, you know?’

The Django Unchained star then brought in quarterback Brady, 44, who was famously indecisive about ending his career, to give the actress a few pointers. ‘I was talking to Jamie and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire. I’m relatively successful at un-retiring,’ he stated.

Jamie also added a message in which he said he needed a bit of help to get Diaz back into acting, describing her as a GOAT, which stands for Greatest Of All Time.

‘Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT,’ he said. The Shrek voice actress also shared a shot of the voice call to her Instagram story with a message of her own.

She wrote: ‘Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!’

Cameron’s last role on screen was as Miss Colleen Hannigan in the 2014 musical comedy feature Annie, in which Jamie also starred. The performer later confirmed that she had retired from acting during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that was published in 2018.

The actress took part in a conversation with Selma Blair and Christina Applegate, former castmates from her 2002 film The Sweetest Thing, telling them she would love a reunion, adding: ‘I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies.’
