The One Thing Cameron Diaz Admitted To Being Nervous About In Movies

The One Thing Cameron Diaz Admitted To Being Nervous About In Movies

For fans who weren’t already aware, Cameron Diaz hasn’t acted in a film since 2014. In 2017, she confirmed that she had retired from acting. But in that time, Cam also got married (to Benji Madden), wrote a book, and started making wine, confirmed Rolling Stone.

That’s not all she did during her acting hiatus, though.

In 2019, Cameron and Benji welcomed baby Raddix via surrogate. After decades of will-she or won’t-she in terms of debates over whether Cameron would pursue motherhood, fans finally had their answer.

And though she’s been out of the spotlight lately, it’s true that Cameron did “retire” long before Raddix was born. But with the emergence of her “clean wine” brand plus some public appearances, fans are now wondering whether Cameron’ll return to the big screen, now that motherhood and entrepreneurship are apparently keeping her pretty busy.

Though Cameron’s staggering net worth means she doesn’t have to work, fans wouldn’t mind seeing her in another movie or two (or more). The multi-talented actress has had many notable roles over the years. And yet, there’s one thing that makes her nervous about acting.

As Celeb Answers revealed, though Cameron has tackled some challenging roles, she really fears singing on camera. While co-stars say she’s plenty talented, there is that one ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ karaoke scene… But that was fake and “deliberately bad,” says Celeb Answers.

Yet, Cameron claims that the “bad” singing voice she used was closer to reality than the other voices she’s applied to her acting roles. But with a long list of voice acting jobs on her resume (like Fiona in ‘Shrek’), it’s hard to believe that Cameron’s voice is really that terrible.

Cameron Diaz herself admitted that she was super nervous to sing in her last project, 2014’s ‘Annie.’ But with the help of voice coaches and other pros, she was able to pull it off. Before that, though, her singing experience was a bit limited, and it always made her nervous.

Case in point? 1994’s ‘The Mask’ showed Diaz singing, but it was really lip-syncing; another singer recorded the vocals, while Cameron played up the performance.

A few assorted on-screen singing gigs over the years have helped Cameron calm her nerves, but co-stars ribbed her about having stage fright.

It’s interesting that one of the industry’s most famous and sought-after actresses has a fear of performing. But to hear Cameron tell it, it sounds like she overcame the challenges in ‘Annie,’ and may not shy away from opportunities to flex her vocals in the future.

That is, if she re-enters Hollywood again in the future, which fans would be all over.

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden ‘Love Being Parents,’ Says Source: Inside Their Life with Raddix

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden ‘Love Being Parents,’ Says Source: Inside Their Life with Raddix

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are loving every minute with their 3-month-old daughter Raddix.

As a family source tells PEOPLE of the spouses, “They love being parents. This is their full-time job and they just want to be with their daughter.”

During the coronavirus pandemic, Good Charlotte musician Madden, 41, and actress Diaz, 47 (who married in 2015), have been sticking close to home for both privacy and safety reasons.

“As new parents, they always felt very protective about Raddix. In the beginning, it was more like they wanted to protect her privacy and [didn’t want] her to be photographed. Now, their No. 1 concern is for everyone to stay healthy,” says the source.

“They stay at home as much as possible and only go out for necessary errands,” the insider adds. “They very much enjoy their new life with Rad.”

The Charlie’s Angels actress couldn’t help but rave about her little girl on a recent Instagram Live session with her friend and Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power.

“I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life,” Diaz said. “I’m so, so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to get to do it with Benji and we’re just having the best time.”

The couple shared the happy news of their daughter’s arrival on social media in early January, writing, “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”

The new parents also went on to say that while they “are overjoyed to share this news” they “also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy” — and as such would not “be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute! Some would even say RAD.”

“From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade,” they wrote, signing off the post, “Sincerely, Cameron&Benj” with a red heart emoji.

Cameron Diaz Might Come Out Of Retirement For The Mask Sequel

Cameron Diaz Might Come Out Of Retirement For The Mask Sequel

1994 was the year that Jim Carrey seemingly came out of nowhere to become one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber all arriving in theaters within the space of ten months and earning over $700 million at the box office combined. Carrey has since made sequels to two of those breakout hits, but we never got a follow-up to The Mask unless you count 2005’s Son of the Mask, which most people don’t because it was awful.

However, rumors of a long-delayed sequel have started picking up steam recently, with creator Mike Richardson revealing his interest in a female-driven spinoff, while we’ve previously reported that there was also interest in bringing Carrey back for both a second big screen outing as Stanley Ipkiss and an adult-orientated animated series on HBO Max.

For what it’s worth, the actor has admitted that he’d be game for a return provided it lands in the hands of a suitably talented filmmaker, but he may not be the only original cast member who comes back. According to sources close to WGTC – the same ones that told us that the character would be appearing in Space Jam 2 before it was confirmed in leaked footage – not only is The Mask 2 back on the table, but the studio are hoping to lure Cameron Diaz out of retirement to star alongside their rubber-faced leading man.

Diaz made her big screen debut as love interest Tina Carlyle in The Mask, and went on to become a huge star before quietly retiring from acting following her appearance in Annie 20 years later. She seems to be happy with her lot, but the promise of a brief cameo or a hefty paycheck could tempt her to return, as well as bring her career full circle.

Whether it ends up happening or not, 90s nostalgia is all the rage these days, so a long-delayed sequel to The Mask can never be officially ruled out. But even if it was announced today, Jim Carrey would be at least 60 by the time it made it to the big screen and we all remember how Dumb and Dumber To turned out after the actor decided to revisit one of his most iconic characters after a lengthy hiatus. Still, the demand for more of the property is certainly there and we imagine WB is just waiting to see how his cameo in Space Jam 2 goes down before officially announcing it.
